What led you to pursue a career helping others?
Helping others brings me the greatest amount of joy. It makes me happy because I like knowing that I helped someone accomplish something that they may have not been able to do without my help. The best part is seeing the improvements and growth! To know that you helped change someone’s life circumstances for the better is a huge reward for me.
What education, skills, and expertise do you bring to your role?
Studying psychology and the brain for many years and participating in many different Neurocognitive related studies has really made me realize that I am super fascinated by the human brain and how it functions! Its plasticity is what amazes me the most. The idea that you can rewire your brain and even be able to see an improvement in your cognitive functioning within time is so fascinating. Becoming a brain coach after my graduation gave me the opportunity to work with patients alongside a neurologist doing cognitive skills training which included enhancing cognitive domains such as executive functioning, visual memory, verbal memory, and organizational skills. Having the opportunity to have a positive impact on others and helping them improve their cognitive deficits while implementing all the techniques, knowledge, and experience I’ve gained the past few years gives me so much satisfaction!
Who/what inspires you?
I find inspiration in a variety of people and things. Mostly by the people/things that motivate me to learn and become a better version of myself.
What’s your personal philosophy/approach toward the work you do?
My philosophy towards work is that it’s important to take on new challenges, and activities that make you grow and learn on a regular basis. Also, it’s important to give back, in and outside of the workplace!
What is one small thing people can do to improve their lives and increase their happiness?
Everyone has something in their life to be grateful for. Most of us have so many blessings! A simple habit of daily reflection is enough to bring our focus simply on them and allow us to take a few moments to express personal gratitude for all that we have been given in life. Good health, loving family, nourishing relationships, an enjoyable career – the list can go on and on! There are scientific sources for the statement that gratitude simply helps increase happiness, this also means that being grateful could help protect us from negativity, stress, depression, and anxiety!
We provide coaching and therapy to help people manage a variety of cognitive and emotional conditions.
