Jensen Bonney, LMHCA

Position at the Hallowell Todaro ADHD Center:

Coach/Therapist

How long have you been working at Hallowell Todaro ADHD?

August 2023!

Where did you grow up?

I grew up in West Seattle, Washington.

What are your favorite books / TV shows / movies?

I have a hard time picking favorite things because I just like so many different varieties. I ike historical fiction books about World War II, I love cooking shows, especially with Gordon Ramsay, and one of my earliest favorite movies is Grease.

What’s your favorite sport and/or sports team?

I love playing sports- Swimming and volleyball are my favorite but have also played soccer, softball and dance. I love my Oregon ducks football team :)

Complete the following sentences:

When I’m not at work, you can find me...

at home, either reading, cooking or hanging with my family and dogs.

When I want to de-stress, I...

swim and cook (well… and eat :))

My favorite time of year is...

summer! I love the sunshine.

My favorite thing to cook is...

again with picking favorites… I love baking bread and making homemade pasta. But it’s so hard to pick just one food since there are so many types of food!

If I could travel anywhere in the world, I’d go to...

The Galapagos Islands are number one on my bucket list. But I’d love to eat my way around the world.

The best gift I ever received was…

when my family gifted me a swimming with dolphins experience at Sea World (I LOVE dolphins!)

What led you to pursue a career in helping others?

My school counselor was vital in getting me through some hard times in high school. Ever since then, I wanted to be in that world.

What education, skills and expertise do you bring to your role?

I came from a great counseling program at Seattle University which prepared me well for the counseling field. I went into school counseling and was in Seattle Public Schools for 9 years before I left to come to Hallowell. So I think I have a great balance between counseling skills as well as practical knowledge of school systems to help a wide range of people.

Who/what inspires you?

People living their best lives and bringing their gifts to the world is what inspires me. Amazing chefs putting art onto plates; artists bringing music to the radio or paint to the walls; waitstaff bringing smiles to people’s faces as they have a night out to eat… If you’re bringing positivity and joy into this world, you’re an inspiration!

What’s your personal philosophy/approach toward the work you do?

I think my biggest philosophy is listening. Every person has a story to tell. Everyone has dreams to achieve. Everyone has a gift to give to the world. And if you just listen, you might be able to help.

What is one small thing people can do to improve their lives / increase their happiness?

One thing people can do to increase their happiness is to disconnect from the internet and start connecting with others (I know, easier said than done!). It’s something I’m working on too.
