Kindergarten - 2nd Grade Activities

 ACTIVITIES THAT REQUIRE MINIMAL SUPERVISION

  • Have your child keep a journal - they can draw pictures or write in it every day

  • Give them some sheets, some couch cushions or pillows and let them build a fort.

  • Have them draw a picture to send to Grandma or for their teacher etc.  Teach them about snail mail and have them mail it.

  • Color Scavenger Hunt - hunt for one color all over the house and then draw a picture of what they found. (other suggestions: look for pillows, lamps, electric outlets, pictures on the wall)

  • Gather some old boxes and let them build whatever their imagination can create.

  •  Download audio books.

  • Raid your recycling bin, get some tape and let them come up with an unique art project.

  • If the weather is cooperating, (light rain does not count - this is the northwest, after all), the backyard would be a great place for them to explore and find treasures.

  • Pick an item in your house (for example, windows) and have them go around the house and count them.
