Since Spring 2023

 

Where did you grow up?

I grew up in Waco, Texas.

 

What are your favorite books / TV shows / movies?

I have so many: The Light We Cannot See, The Warmth of Other Suns, The Covenant of Water, Being Mortal, What My Bones Know For Sure. Favorite all-time TV Show: Six Feet Under. Also love Ted Lasso, Succession, Ozark, and hate to admit, The Bachelor/ette.

What’s your favorite sport and/or sports team?

Not really into sports.

it used to be summer but the Texas heat is killing me. I will go with spring.

I love to travel! Next place my heart is set on Norway.

my kids always give me the best gifts - they seem to know the perfect thing to get me.

What led you to pursue a career in helping others?

When I was in college, I wasn’t sure what I wanted to major in. I visited my sister’s kindergarten class at the time and immediately knew that I wanted to be a teacher. Forty years later, kids continue to be my passion.

What education, skills and expertise do you bring to your role?

I have a BS in Elementary Education, MBA in NonProfit Management and an MAed. I am also a PCI Certified Parent Coach® from the Parent Coaching Institute.

I began my career as a teacher and later moved on to administration in the private school setting. I have many years of experience working with children (many of whom had ADHD) and their parents. I am a curious person and love to learn, so I have participated in a wide array of trainings and workshops to increase my knowledge and skill set. For example: The Day School Leadership Training Institute, Conscious Discipline, Online Trauma Resiliency Model (TRM)® Training, and The Ojai Foundation Council Training. I am currently participating in an IMAGO training.

Who/what inspires you?

I love to learn and I love people, so if someone comes to me with a creative idea or a great book, I am there. Currently I am participating in an online Soul Collage class!

What’s your personal philosophy/approach toward the work you do?

I created a mission statement to guide my work. “I provide individualized expertise, resources and creative solutions to help parents show up and navigate the world of parenting with resilience, humor, support and love.

What is one small thing people can do to improve their lives / increase their happiness?

I believe in getting enough sleep. I’m a mess without it.
