What led you to pursue a career helping others?

I love being in a field where I am always learning, being challenged, and being inspired by the people I work with. I love connecting with other humans, hearing their stories, and watching with them as they grow and heal. I have a personal connection to mental health work, and I am grateful for the therapists who have helped me on my own path.

What education, skills, and expertise do you bring to your role?

I spent much of my early career training in play therapy as well as trauma work with CBT and psychodynamic interventions. As a school social worker, I picked up a grab bag of interventions from the worlds of sensory integration, art therapy, motivational interviewing, narrative therapy and brief psychodynamic therapy. I am currently completing my training in EMDR, which has been incredibly powerful and inspiring. I am passionate about the field of mental health and sharing new ideas and strategies with my clients.

Who/what inspires you?

My mentors. I have been so lucky to have worked with extraordinary professionals who bring knowledge and thoughtfulness and humor to the work.

What’s your personal philosophy/approach toward the work you do?

I believe in meeting people where they are. I believe in helping my clients see and value their own strengths. I believe in plasticity and the potential for healing in every human.

What is one small thing people can do to improve their lives and increase their happiness?

Play! Whatever that means to you. Play every day and connect with the activities and people that bring you joy.
