What are your favorite books / TV shows / movies?
I love non-fiction books about history and politics. One of my favorite fiction authors is Andre Gide. My all-time favorite movie is Back to the Future. I like documentaries and an eclectic variety of current streaming shows.
What’s your favorite sport?
I have a complicated relationship with sports, and I am currently on the outs with all pro teams and leagues. I’m lukewarm on college athletics but will always love UW Husky Football & Basketball.

If I could travel anywhere in the world, I’d go to...
I've been to a lot of places, but I’d probably go back to Japan. It’s all about the food!
What led you to pursue a career helping others?
I have always enjoyed giving gifts, helping people with projects, etc. I find it extremely fulfilling to be able to use a skill or resource I have to assist others in furthering their goals.
What education, skills, and expertise do you bring to your role?
This is a place to admit feeling self-conscious. I often feel like I am just waiting to be exposed as a fraud that has no legitimate skills in anything! That being said I have worked for more than twenty years as a coach (sports), teacher, and administrator in Seattle area independent schools. My undergraduate and legal studies have given me significant experience in social science research, and critical thinking and analysis of issues.
Who/what inspires you?
Pretty cheesy, but my amazing wife Cassidy. She lives her life in a manner that does not allow for short-cuts and demands that I do the same.
What’s your personal philosophy/approach toward the work you do?
Be a great listener and challenge clients to be honest with themselves. I like wild ideas too and am always eager to try something new when more obvious strategies are not working.
What is one small thing people can do to improve their lives and increase their happiness?
Remember that each day we wake up healthy is another one we were not promised. That and make your bed every morning! It’s a simple routine that feels good (when done) and gets things going in a positive way.
We provide coaching and therapy to help people manage a variety of cognitive and emotional conditions.
