For TV and Movies, I gravitate towards comedy, biopics, and just plain beautiful films (Wes Anderson). What led you to pursue a career helping others?
I have always been fascinated with how people live their lives, growth, and human behavior. Previously, I was a commercial photographer living in New York City, which allowed me to study people through my lens, yet I became disenchanted with the business of advertising. Being a therapist allows me to connect with people authentically in a more intimate setting. It’s my distinct honor to walk alongside my clients as they explore the depths of their reality.
What education, skills, and expertise do you bring to your role?
I completed my Masters's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy at Antioch University in March 2021. Prior to my formal education, I learned many interrelational and business skills from my seven-year photography career. I used my camera and love of storytelling to document everything from weddings, to advertising campaigns, to a refugee camp in France. Additionally, I broadened my cultural perspective by traveling solo throughout southeast Asia where I learned that we as humans have more in common than differences. Originally, I’m from the south, but I have lived in Colorado, New York City, and now Seattle, which has provided me with diverse friendships and communities all over the United States.
Who/what inspires you?
I draw inspiration from many teachers, spiritual practices, and theories. Although I have an evolving list of wise mentors and authors that I turn to for guidance such as Jack Kornfield, Ram Dass, Stephen Levine, and Deb Dana, my meditation practice continues to be my main source of grounding. This inspires me to empower my clients that they too are complete and whole and that their healing, peace, and vitality will come from within.
What’s your personal philosophy/approach toward the work you do?
I believe that all humans want to feel seen, understood, and validated. When we can learn to accept every part of ourselves with compassion and non-judgement, we can give ourselves this gift and create an environment for deep healing.
What is one small thing people can do to improve their lives and increase their happiness?
Create and partake in a spiritual practice that is grounding and nourishing; be it connecting with nature, aligning to the body through movement, creating music, breathwork, meditation, or prayer.
We provide a range of support for people with ADHD.
