DBT is an evidence-based approach (learn more here) to help people with ADHD manage symptoms by learning mindfulness skills, how to better tolerate distress, and how to regulate emotions. Group Leader, Paula Jones, LCSW has been helping clients individually and in DBT groups to develop these skills, and has seen DBT be beneficial with ADHD and comorbid disorders of anxiety and depression. The “dialectic” is learning to accept ADHD while working on changing certain characteristics, such as vulnerability to emotional dysregulation.
