What led you to pursue a career helping others?
Passion! I chose to work with kids knowing that they are the population that needs the support more than any other. If I can help change the outcome of their future into a more resilient one, then I know that I have helped them better manage their future circumstances.
What education, skills, and expertise do you bring to your role?
Currently, I am pursuing my Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology to help fill the gap with needed specialists, especially experienced working with children. My goal is to be of service to children who need psychological assessments.
I received an MA in Clinical Psychology with an MFT specialization from Antioch University in Los Angeles. I started my career in Los Angeles, working with kids with developmental disabilities. It is where I fell in love with working with this population. I continued this work in a similar capacity working for WA DSHS. I decided that I wanted to go back and invest my time to complete my licensure requirements and dove into working with children at Compass Health Children’s Intensive Services. I’ve dabbled in other careers, such as systems work for early childhood mental health, accreditation compliance, and working with dementia and Alzheimer’s adults.
Who/what inspires you?
Working with kids that have amazing self-awareness and emotional intelligence.
What’s your personal philosophy/approach toward the work you do?
Being able to share the knowledge I have with others in order to be a better person than they were when they started (therapy).
What is one small thing people can do to improve their lives and increase their happiness?
For every one negative thought they have about themselves, they have to come up with three positive ones.
We provide a range of support for people with ADHD.
