Psychological Assessments

Psychological assessments provide a deeper understanding of an individual’s strengths, challenges, and diagnostic profile. Our comprehensive evaluation process can help clarify diagnoses and provide practical recommendations for treatment, learning, and everyday support.

Psychological assessment services are designed to clarify presenting concerns, highlight areas of strength, and identify opportunities for growth. Each evaluation includes:

  • Intake Session to understand current concerns, history, and goals

  • In‑Person Psychological Testing tailored to the client’s needs

  • Feedback Session to review results and create a coordinated plan of care

This assessment process is well‑suited for exploring presentations such as:

  • ADHD

  • Autism

  • Learning disabilities (e.g., Dyslexia, Dyscalculia)

  • Executive functioning challenges

Assessment services do not address traumatic brain injury (TBI) or neurocognitive degenerative conditions such as Alzheimer’s disease.

Each evaluation includes a comprehensive intake, an in‑person battery of standardized measures, and screening tools completed by both the client and trusted collateral informants. All information is integrated into a written report and reviewed during the feedback session. All testing is conducted under the direction of a licensed psychologist.

Psychological assessments are currently offered only at the Bellingham office.

What is the difference between a standard diagnostic intake and a psychological assessment?

Our standard diagnostic intake is an essential and highly valuable part of beginning the treatment process. It provides a meaningful, clinically grounded understanding of a client’s concerns, history, and goals. Through a collaborative, conversational interview—which includes screening tools and gathering diagnostic criteria—clinicians develop an initial diagnostic impression and identify the most appropriate starting points for treatment and support. This process is crucial for establishing rapport, clarifying needs, and guiding therapeutic choices.

A psychological assessment, by contrast, is designed for situations where deeper diagnostic clarity is needed. It expands on the foundation built in the intake by incorporating:

  • A structured review of medical and developmental history

  • Analysis of symptom patterns over time

  • Consideration of how challenges impact daily functioning

  • Standardized testing and collateral input

  • A written report with integrated findings and recommendations

This level of evaluation not only clarifies a client’s diagnostic profile—it also equips families with documentation that can support important next steps, such as:

  • Requesting or updating 504 Plans

  • Requesting or updating IEP evaluations

  • Coordinating care with pediatricians, psychiatrists, or specialists

  • Advocating for school‑based accommodations and supports

  • Guiding treatment planning within therapy

  • Understanding learning profiles and executive functioning needs

  • Communicating strengths and needs to teachers, coaches, and other providers
